Our story
A roastery that grows toward the light
How it started
Ten bags in, a café asked for a wholesale order.
In 2016, Elena and Marcus Brandt bought a secondhand 5 kg roaster, cleared out their garage in Minneapolis, and started roasting for friends. The first bag was terrible. The second was better. By the tenth, a local café asked for a wholesale order.
We named the company after the larkspur — a tall, stubborn wildflower that grows in the prairies near Elena's grandmother's farm and always leans toward the sun. It felt right for a coffee company that cares about where things grow.
Where we are now
Today Larkspur is a team of 18 working from a 6,000 sq ft roastery and café. We still roast in small batches, still cup every lot, and still pack many of the bags ourselves.
Our subscription service delivers to thousands of homes across the US, and every box is packed within 48 hours of roasting.
